Join Cody McDevitt and Sean Enright, co-authors of Pittsburgh Drinks: A History of Cocktails, Nightlife & Bartending Tradition, for a historical discussion and cocktail tasting. 

Award-winning author Cody McDevitt will discuss the history of speakeasies, discotheques and dancing clubs in Pittsburgh. The program includes a cocktail tasting and demonstration with co-author Sean Enright, who will be creating a special cocktail just for this event.

You won't want to miss this fun night of cocktails and history!

Cody McDevitt is an investigative reporter based in western Pennsylvania. He has won a Golden Quill and awards from the Pennsylvania Newsmedia Association and the Pennsylvania Associated Press Media Editors Organization. He co-authored Pittsburgh Drinks: A History of Cocktails, Nightlife and Bartending Tradition and Banished from Johnstown: Racist Backlash in Pennsylvania, for which he won a Bronze Medal in the IPPY Awards in 2021. He won a Ray Sprigle Memorial Award for an expose on how OSHA stopped working during the Coronavirus pandemic. His work has appeared in Pittsburgh Quarterly, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Table Magazine, Mt. Lebanon Magazine and on liquor.com.

Cocktail Consultant Sean Enright is one of the founding fathers of the craft cocktail movement in Pittsburgh, and an original founder of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the United States Bartenders’ Guild. He entered the restaurant industry in 1997 where his passion for wine and bar programs led him to a position at Embury, Pittsburgh's first craft cocktail bar. From this position he began mentoring many of the city’s top cocktail talents. He ran numerous award winning-restaurant and cocktail programs throughout the city, becoming a lead authority on cocktails in Pittsburgh. His first cocktail book, Pittsburgh Drinks: A History of Cocktails, Nightlife & Bartending Tradition was published in March 2017 by Arcadia Press. After his book was published, Sean accepted the General Manager position at Spork, which eventually gained a James Beard Foundation nomination under his direction. In 2021 Sean co-authored a second cocktail book alongside photographer George Lange titled The Illustrated Guide to Reputation Risk Management. Mr. Enright has also published three books of poetry Over Responding MonsterEstablishing the Lobster and Tales of Love & Horror.
