Event Details

Diversity in STEM-related fields is a hot topic in the media, but what are the actual numbers behind the sound bites? How well are women, minorities, and persons with disabilities represented in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics?

Drawing on her experiences as a science educator to liven things up, Pye Pajewski will use anecdotal evidence, official reports, and possibly some dry ice to discuss Diversity in STEM. What trends have we seen historically? What can the data teach us? Most importantly, what can we as individuals do to help direct those trends in the future? This talk can empower you to make a difference!

This presentation is sponsored by a grant from the Arconic Foundation.

Pye Pajewski studied engineering when it was still unusual to find women in that field. She is currently a Reference Clerk and InterLibrary Loan specialist at Cranberry Public Library, approaching the job with a problem-solving mindset. She and her photographer husband live in Allegheny County.
